| Abstract | The material in this publication derives from the Annual General Conference of the British Educational Administration Society (BEAS) held at the London College of Furniture on November 15-16, 1974. The main objective of the conference was to clarify some of the intellectual and attitudinal problems surrounding participative decision-making at the institutional level. The first paper examines the role of the head of the institution, the community, teaching staff, nonteaching staff, clients, parents, the local education association, and the central government in institutional decision-making. The other major paper deals with the participation of the teaching staff in school decision-making. Discussion of Circular 7/70 is included along with case material from a school that examined the creation of an academic board for school governance. (Author/IRT) |
